SPECIFICITY OF ‘RÉNWÙ’ GENRE DEVELOPMENT IN THE XX-XXI CENTURIES

Abstract

The article considers the specificity of ‘rénwù’ genre in the modern Chinese visual art. The information presented by the author supplements and broadens the existing conceptions of the Chinese figurative painting of the XX-XXI centuries. By the example of the works of modern painters well known in China but practically unknown to the Russian audience the author analyses stylistic and technical changes, which influenced the artistic-expressive language of the genre painting. The analysis indicated radical re-evaluation of human’s role, strong emphasis on individual and his/her feelings, which have been neglected in the Chinese visual art for a long period.
