ARCHITECTURE OF ITALY IN PROPAGANDA POLICY OF THE FASCIST STATE

Abstract

The article discusses the role of Italy architecture of the 1920-1940s in fascism ideology propaganda. The author concentrates on architecture importance in achieving the ideological goals formulated by the leadership of the National Fascist Party headed by B. Mussolini. The architecture was supposed to influence the citizens’ mentality, causing them to acquire the sense of belonging to the power and stability of the fascist regime. The architecture of the heyday of the Roman Empire was considered as a model in that period. Therefore, the architects used classic forms in their creations, but they did it for propaganda purposes.
