Abstract

The article provides a socio-philosophical analysis of the ageing phenomenon. Relying on the socio-cognitive approach, the author examines the communicative aspect of ageing. The paper justifies importance of studying age-related stereotypes with a view to reveal their influence on elderly people’s self-perception, health and communication. Scientific originality of the study involves justifying relevance of the socio-cognitive approach when analysing gerontostereotypes. This approach opens new prospects in studying the communicative aspect of ageing. The conclusion is made that studies on the communicative aspect of ageing contribute to understanding third-age specificity.
