Dialogue based on the principle of cultural relativism: the path to existential-ontological transformation of the personality of a resocializing individual
Abstract
This article analyzes the dynamics of the resocialization process and the changes in its key aspects. The main conceptual tenets of dialogue and cultural relativism are examined. The aim of this article is to identify and analyze the mechanisms for implementing the principle of cultural relativism during intercultural dialogue as a factor determining the processes of existential and ontological changes in the personality of the resocializing individual. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the application of a previously unused systemic approach to the study of inclusion in the system of intercultural dialogue and cultural relativism for assessing the transformation of the individual's personality participating in the process of resocialization in a foreign cultural environment. The study found that by "immersing" oneself in the world of the "Other," without condemning their cultural values and beliefs, the resocializing individual is able to discover a completely new way of perceiving reality and themselves, that is, to translate their "Self" into a different state of cultural identity – a bicultural identity.
