The NATO’s Balkan Policy in the 1990s through the Eyes of the American Researchers

Abstract

The research objective involves the analysis and systematization of the American scientific literature on the NATO’s Balkan policy in the 1990s. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the NATO’s Balkan policy is considered as an autonomous research area. Special attention is paid to analysing researchers’ opinions about the NATO’s military operations in Bosnia and Kosovo, different approaches to this issue are identified. Certain aspects of this problem attracting the American researchers’ special attention are highlighted. The findings indicate that, despite diversity of views on the NATO’s Balkan policy, all the analysed works have some common features: political emphasis, focus on justifying the Balkan policy in modern reality.
