Combat Tasks of the 2nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division during the Crimean Offensive Operation of 1944

Abstract

The research objectives are as follows: to identify and systematize types of night bombers combat tasks during the Crimean Offensive Operation (April 8 - May 12, 1944). The article provides examples of combat tasks of the 2nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division of the 8th Air Army. The author describes types of combat tasks, staff and dislocation of regiments, reconstructs details of the Crimean Offensive Operation, in which the 2nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division participated, wherein lies scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals contribution of this combat unit to liberation of the Crimean Peninsula from the German-fascist invaders.
