Combat Tasks of the 2^nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division during the Crimean Offensive Operation of 1944

Abstract

The research objectives are as follows: to identify and systematize types of night bombers combat tasks during the Crimean Offensive Operation (April 8 - May 12, 1944). The article provides examples of combat tasks of the 2^nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division of the 8^th Air Army. The author describes types of combat tasks, staff and dislocation of regiments, reconstructs details of the Crimean Offensive Operation, in which the 2^nd Guards Night Bomber Aviation Division participated, wherein lies scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals contribution of this combat unit to liberation of the Crimean Peninsula from the German-fascist invaders.
