Historiography of the influence of postmodernist ideological and artistic programs on the development trends of contemporary fine art

Abstract

The research aims to identify the main trends and directions in the development of foreign and Russian historiography dedicated to the study of the phenomenon of postmodernism from the second/third quarter of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century. This historiographical review allows not only for the systematization of key studies on the subject but also for the identification of primary directions of theoretical reflection, the analysis of controversial aspects of scholarly discourse, and the presentation of an original authorial vision regarding the holistic development of the historiography of postmodernist art. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the critical revision of existing interpretations of the postmodern phenomenon, which significantly expands the scholarly vision of the problem in terms of both the scope of sources and the depth of their interpretation. Based on this analysis, the study proposes the development of the authors’ concept of a holistic approach to postmodern art. As a result of the research, the main stages of the formation of this historiography were established, and its features were defined within the context of the various methodological approaches applied by researchers.
