The existential gap as the ontological foundation of cognitive sovereignty: from Dasein to a sovereign cognitive system

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to substantiate the cognitive sovereignty of the individual as an existential-epistemic condition rooted in the ontological gap of Dasein. The scientific novelty lies in the development of the concept of “existential-epistemic realism”, within which the debate between E. V. Ilyenkov and D. I. Dubrovsky is resolved for the first time through M. Heidegger’s existential analytic. The concept of “cognitive resoluteness” is introduced into the categorical framework as a historical mode of resoluteness, describing an individual’s capacity for reflexive pause within a total algorithmic environment. The four-level model of cognitive choice receives an existential-epistemic interpretation through the fundamental existentials of Dasein (thrownness, being-towards-death, anxiety, resoluteness), organically incorporating the intersubjective dimension (Mitsein). As a result of the study, it is shown that cognitive sovereignty is neither a psychological trait nor a social property, but an existential-epistemic capacity of Dasein that enables the cognitive processes of choice, reflection, and self-determination. It is substantiated that the existential gap between facticity and existence serves as a precondition for authentic cognition. Practical implications of the model are developed for pedagogy, information security, psychology, and legal practice, aiming at fostering the cognitive autonomy of the individual and protecting the existential gap as the ontological foundation of human sovereignty in the face of the algorithmic simulation of choice.
